Two papers reporting on patient and laboratory evaluations of the efficacy of PathFinder, the image guided robot for stereotactic neurosurgery, were presented at the American Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, June 1st-4th, in Boston USA. The work was presented by Mr S. Eljamel, FRCS, head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Dundee, Scotland. The papers highlighted the benefits of improved accessibility to intracranial targets provided by PathFinder, and described the use of the robot for the placement of electrodes during epilepsy surgery.
