Research
Experience
Research Assistant Professor 2007 - Present
Dr. Anna W. Roe’s lab
Department of Psychology, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN
Main research interests include feed-forward interactions between motion and contour
processing in early visual cortex and feed-back influences on these processes in awake
behaving macaques, with single-cell recording and optical imaging techniques.
Postdoctoral Research Associate 2002 - 2007
Dr. Anna W. Roe’s lab
2002-2003: Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT
2003-2007: Department of Psychology, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN
Studied the neural mechanisms underlying the visual perception of brightness, color, and
contour in both anesthetized and awake, behaving non-human primates.
Graduate Research Assistant 1997 - 2002
Dr. Heywood M. Petry’s lab
Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY.
Studied the developmental plasticity of visual neurons in the tree shrew using the red-lightrearing
(RLR) model and in vivo single-unit recording techniques.
Graduate Research Assistant 1994 - 1997
Dr. Yun-cheng Diao’s lab
Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing China
Studied the functional architecture of neurons in cat LS area using in vivo single-unit
extracellular recording techniques.
