Education:

1992, Bachelor degree in Medicine, Nanhua University (China). 1997, Master degree in Neurobiology, Shanghai Brain Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China). 1999, Master degree in Neurobiology, Singapore National University (Singapore). 2006, Ph.D in Biological Sciences, Vanderbilt University (USA), “GPA=4.00”.

 

Work experience:

1992-1994, resident physician, People’s Hospital of Ruchen County, Hunan province (China) 2006-current, Associate Investigator of Neural Plasticity Lab, Institute of Neuroscience, Chinese Academy of Sciences

 

Research skills:

1.       Extracellular and intracellular (current- and voltage-clamp) electrical recordings in monkeys, rats, flies and Xenopus oocytes. 2.       Fly genetics, especially transposon-mediated mutagenesis and identification of mutant genes. 3.       Generation of transgenic flies and C. elegans. 4.       Molecular biology, have subcloned over 10 different recombinant DNAs of 5 genes into 6 different plasmids. 5.       Biochemistry, immunoprecepitation and western blot, general lipase activity examination. 6.       Histology, immunostaining on rat and Drosophila preparations.  

 

Research interests:

1.       The mechanisms of presynaptic vesicle cycling, the modulation/regulation of synaptic receptor function, synaptic changes in Alzheimer’s disease. 2.       Neurogenesis in Drosophila. 3.       The mechanism of Drosophila phototransduction.
