4th IBRO Associate School of Neuroscience
April 5 – 9, 2006
Xi’an, P.R. China
The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) made a decision to support the organization of an Associate School in western China.
The purpose of the IBRO-APRC Associate School is to introduce updated concepts of neuroscience to junior graduate students (e.g. those in their junior PhD year or in the 2nd year MSc course) in under-privileged regions. Another aim of the Associate School is to identify bright students who are suitable to attend the main Neuroscience Schools in different parts of the Asia-Pacific region or even the RIKEN Summer School (Wako, Japan) within the next couple of years. Funding from IBRO will enable about 35 students to attend this 5-day School. The room and board for the 5 days will be funded by the Associate School.
The Associate School in Xi’an will cover lectures, tutorials and discussion. These are to be supplemented by demonstration which is not the main theme of the Associate School. The medium of instruction will be in English. About 4-5 international lecturers (mostly from the Asia-Pacific region) will give lectures and tutorials on selected areas of neuroscience. The Director of this Associate School is Professor Liang-Wei Chen, The Institute of Neurosciences, The Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an, P.R. China (E-mail: lwchen@fmmu.edu.cn).
