Neurobiology of Drug Addiction
   As an introduction to the course, an overview of addiction as a widespread human disease will be discussed. The epidemiology of drug use/abuse, resulting morbidity/mortality and associated complications will be described. Human behavioral responses to acute/chronic drug exposure will be presented, including discussion with a patient that will attend the class. The goal will be to present the human disease as a reference point for the neurobiology that will follow in the course.
