*Older literature referred to zebrafish as Brachydanio rerio. Recent work (Meyer et al., Proc. Roy. Soc. Lond 252:231-236, 1993) and a consensus vote at the 1993 Zebrafish Meeting at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory suggest that Danio rerio should now be used.
