纵观我国医学人文学教育的现状，有待改进之处实多。但医学人文学作为当代医学的一个日益凸现的方面，它倡导、宣扬和维护人文精神，珍视“人”的概念，是医学传统中最为绵长深远的一脉，也是医学的实质和精髓。医学人文的研究和教学对医学来说是不可或缺的。人文教育在医学生身上播下的种子，日后的收获将会从广大的医疗卫生工作者的实践中体现出来，医学教育在这个地方如若留下空白将是至大的遗憾。目前在我国推行医学人文教育面临着众多的问题，可谓知之不易，行之维艰，任重道远，尚需奋勉与努力。
