Along with the completion of many animal and plant genome projects, the "1000 Plant and Animal Reference Genomes Project" has reached a substantial level. Now, more and more collaborative projects have been initiated, and more collaborators are expected to join. It is very timely to have this conference, which aims to provide a platform for idea exchange and leading-edge research discussion on further exploring important species resources, collecting important samples, expanding the coverage of sequencing and building an unprecedented large genome database, which will usher in a new era of global genomics research.
